In Matthew 17:1-8 we can read about the transfiguration of Jesus. In that account, Peter can instantly tell that the two figures that appear beside Jesus are Moses and Elijah. Since we do not have the ability today to instantly recognize one another, I guess that it is important to introduce myself. My name is JD Russell, and I am a gospel preacher. I am currently going to school at the Southeast Institute of Biblical Studies in Knoxville, Tennessee. Before I started school at SEIBS, I went to Bethel University for four years and received a bachelor’s degree in Psychology. I am originally from the small town of McKenzie, Tennessee which is where Bethel is located as well.
The reason that I started a blog in the first place is because it is important for preachers, or anyone if I’m honest, to write and help spread the good news. This site is going to comprise of short articles and maybe some sermon outlines or class notes. In my articles I will attempt to follow a biblical example of taking an earthly object, event, or story and give it some spiritual application. If you want an example of what that may look like, check out my article entitled “How Far Will You Go?” My hope is that by my use of physical examples, you will want to study the Bible more and that will lead you to want to become a follower of Christ just as I am.
Hopefully this was informative to you. Back to the transfiguration, will it not be wonderful to be in heaven and not have the awkwardness of trying to introduce yourself to a person. I never really know what to say or what to talk to them about, but it seems like in heaven we will know one another and be able to commune with one another.
